It is anti virus. The basic is free but if you want more protection, it costs.

Wow- that’s really weird. Of course it reeks of virus but I’ve used AVG for years and love it. Have never had anything like that happen to me-have always had full control…maybe an impostor? So odd!

You might picked a fake antivirus. You better download AVG from trusted sites like below.

AVG is an AV product. However, you must have clicked on a bad link, full of malware. The fake AVG thing is spyware that was loaded on to your computer, has nothing to do with AVG. The rogue company only uses the name AVG to make people believe it is the real thing. To get rid of your malware…

1. Get in to safe mode with networking (tap F8 while your computer boots up).

2. Download Malwarebytes, update, full scan twice. The second scan is to make sure nothing gets left behind.

3. Download Rkill, run 2-3 times. Sometimes Rkill works only if you run it multiple times.

4. Download Hitman Pro, run. (I haven’t used this program, but MANY people highly recommend it)

5. Download CCleaner, to get rid of junk.

6. Reboot in normal mode, you should now have a clean machine want virus system Sometimes Rkill remove program Panda Cloud Antivirus Certifi Windows Panda Cloud Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials messages Malwarebytes Anti IMMEDIATELY free FIRST fake computer Certifi Windows CDROM BUY best AVG Avast AV antivirus anti AVG virus or anti virus program? antivirususerreviews

From now on, keep an AV all the time. If you want a paid one, try Kaspersky. If you want a free one, go for Microsoft Security Essentials, or Avast.

You have followed a link to a fake antivirus program (FakeAV/FakeSysDef virus). I’ve spotted a lot of them on Answers and have reported them accordingly. For future reference, AVG’s website is in my sources.

To remove the virus, you can try running a quick scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware Free. Also, if you must use free protection I’d suggest you use Avira AntiVir free instead of AVG, because AVG has recently fallen far behind in the antivirus world.

If the virus stops you from running antivirus programs, use the sfx (not the iso) version of the Avira AntiVir Rescue System. After downloading the sfx file, you will need a CD-R so Avira can burn the rescue system onto it.

Then place the CD in your CDROM drive, restart your computer, then boot from the CD. This will load Avira before Windows attempts to start, preventing the virus from intervening on removal effforts. It will then take you through the steps to run a full system scan.
