Main issue courtesy of Marqis: my computer was attacked with the “fake windows antivirus” anti-virus-1 2009 and my computer is freezing. HELP?

It has the windows multicolored shield for the logo. i thought it was already on my computer so when it told me “you have 41 threats on your computer” i panicked and pressed ok. this was a really stupid thing to do, and it would be greatly beneficial and wonderful if someone can help me. i have no money to get i fixed and im still able to open all my files but when i deleted the program it stayed active on my toolbar. plaease help if anyone can.

Download malwarebyes in safe mode with networking most of these rogue programs will disable legit programs you also need to rename malwarebytes to make it work properly, programs affected are superantispyware, AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy and McAfee, Good luck.

The ONLY FREE solution for you is manual removal. So, basically there is a list of files that must be removed in order to have a clean system. That list can be found here: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html then follow the removal instructions and you should be able to remove it once and for all.

Two of my co-workers had the same issue. I gave the site http://www.spyware-techie.com/anti-virus-1-removal-guide-and-information/ to the IT department and they were able to remove anti-virus-1 from both PC’s. We have a small company and they look for any free resources because this years budget is shot!

The most common cause of computer freezes is a corrupt registry.

Most likely your registry is bloated and overstuffed with an assortment of useless pieces of data. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. There will be bits of programs which were not completely uninstalled, parts of programs which were never completely installed, fragments of miscellaneous data, useless drivers, and a multitude of other bits and pieces.

The answer is to clean your registry and remove all the material which is not needed.
