Experience than on the laptop, the Apple MacBook?

Real question made by Profound: Is Apple Macbook a WAY better experience as compared to a laptop?

Thinking of buying a new computer and I can’t decide between a laptop and a Macbook. Some of my friends have Macbooks and they tell how Macs “never get viruses”. Mac surely looks gorgeous but is it far better than a laptop in the same tech specifications or same price range? Is Apple’s Mac OS faster than Windows 7?

Thanks in advance!

While it isn’t true that Macs never get viruses it is true that they are more likely NOT to be the target of a virus. If you’re a virus writer are you going to put your efforts into infecting 90% of the machines or 5%? OSX is REAL unix. Not that cobbled together crap that M$ sells. And you can always put something like VMWare Fusion 3 on your Mac if you absolutely must have an M$ application. Try doing that will a pc laptop. If money isn’t a problem… get a mac. You’ll be glad you did.

Macs are a waste of the plastic they are composed of.

First, a Macbook IS a laptop computer. Laptops actually don’t exist anymore, they’re calling them NOTEBOOK computers these days. that’s if they have ports. There are NETBOOKs that have limited port ability and are more for just surfing the net than running programs.

That being said, you won’t find a macbook for anywhere near the price you’ll find a PC notebook from any brand. True, Macs don’t tend to get viruses at all, but they are also much more expensive than a pc to buy. For the price that you’ll pay for a macbook, you can get a PC laptop with much more processing power and space PLUS norton antivirus for a couple hundred less and with an extended warranty.

I’m a mac guy, but the more i use them, the more i realize that for what i do, i could really get away with a PC and call it a day.

Honestly, if you spend the same amount of money on a PC laptop rather than a Macbook it will be better. It is a common misconception that PCs are “bad” computers. People that have bad PC experiences are people that don’t know how to take care of their machines. If you take care of the PC laptop, keep virus definitions up to date, and don’t take unnecessary risks (ie. click on popups), you will be 100% fine. And the only reason Macs rarely get viruses is because the HDD are encrypted (are password protected), so the only way a Mac can get a virus is if someone hacks the password. And most hackers don’t want to spend the time to hack the password. All in all, it comes down to preference, if you like the Mac OS better you should get a Mac, and if you like Windows 7 better get a PC. But you can usually get a computer with better internals if you buy a $ 1500-$ 2000 PC laptop. Hope this helps.

You have to carry out a self evaluation to establish which computer you should get. If you are an Ill informed idiot, see above for examples, then you will have to make do with a non_Apple computer. Otherwise you should get a Mac

Get the MacBook. They are fast, reliable, and easy to use.

First thing is that macs are different, their os known as snow leopard is way very much changed from windows 7 but human always has a desire to change, and macbook is a delicious change, you will enjoy it, i have a big community of my friends who have at leaste 3 years shifted to macbook and they all said it works like a charm, then i got it for myself and i will say that truly it is worthy of such an investment.

I have listened people saying that the only negative point to it is that we people are very used to of softwares and utilities which only work on windows but i will say that apple has taken care of this issue and has put optimum utlities in their operating system.

It is wrong that macbook dont get virus, it do but not as much as windows are vulnerable to

As far as hardware is concerned i think you can take it at much lower price in a window based laptop like the one known as toshiba portrege.

Now its upto you, take it for a while from one of your friends and use it for a while, then decide

As far as my suggestion is concerned, i will suggest you two options;

1. First one is of course Apple MacBook Pro MD313LL/A which is the newest 2011 version released i think a month ago with enhanced hardware and hardware compatibilities which means that it can give more sound computing together with efficiency in battery usage

It has got awsome multi touch touchpad which is a nice edition to it.

With latest second generation intel core i5 2.4 ghz processor it works pretty fast

With latest mac os version 10.7 it is a charm to use

2. Second option is the one which has got immense popularity as being true competitor of macbook pro, it is Toshiba Portege R835-P81 and you will not believe that it is as light as an ipad, i have seen people getting mad of it

Take a look at it here, wow priced pretty low here;

With latest core i5 2.4 ghz processor, 6gb of ram, 640 gb hard drive and the exciting thing is its battery life, i myself has checked its battery life and it was exactly 8 hours and 35 minutes which makes it an awsome deal
