With YOUR screen name, you should know!

Your safe. Good action on your part to NOT click on anything.

Answer by Insane_mad_maniak
you was redirected to a spyware/malware site, it’s designed to scare you into installing or paying them, they use a fake scan to say your computer is infected.

download both of these and install

MalwareBytes

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

(if you dont have antivirus) AVG Free

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2012/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol;1

do a full system scan, and make sure you keep them upto date and do a scan regularly.

Answer by Ashely Corner
I’ve never heard of this before. Get “Avast!” free anti virus. It protects you against viruses, alerts you if one has been detected, and does daily scans of your computer. For $ 20 you can get the more advanced version that has a lot more protection. If you have a windows computer go down the little box that comes up when you click the windows symbol on the bottom left corner of your computer. Search “windows defender”. Do a virus scan using both windows defender and “Avast!”. Do NOT use Norton. It slows down your computer.

If it’s something called System Tool be warned. It’s a Trojan virus. It tries to get you to enter your credit card number so it can charge you to get rid of the virus. DON’T do it. It’s a scam. If all else fails try calling Geek Squad or go to Office Depot. Good luck xx

Answer by Leon
As long as you got a good antivirus software on your PC and it is updated you should be okay, and anyone who tells you it is a virus it is rubbish, You have jumped on a site that uses a company that wants to sell you their virus software. when you see what looks like the software reading your hard drive it is just a graphic pretending it is reading your computer.

Answer by ppp2011
Yes, your computer is infected with a virus. Getting infected is easy these days, all you have to do is land on a website that is distributing Malware and you can get infected. The best way to remove this infection is by rebooting into Safe Mode with Networking.

You can find step by step virus removal instructions as FreeTechSupport.com. Here’s the link to the instructions: http://freetechsupport.com/virus-removal/virus-removal-instructions/

Good luck and stay calm. This happens to thousands of people a day.

Answer by Looninjg
Many things happen like that. What happened was it redirected you to a website that tricks you into downloading a virus. Since you just shutdown, you should not be infected at all. Just watch. If nothing that pops up saying you have a virus happens, you should be fine.!

Answer by Saran
No that was just a scam for you to download some rouge antivirus that dupes people into buying some program that in which will do absolutely nothing

Answer by Mike S
That was a infected Malware script getting ready to download onto the computer…you did the right thing by ignoring it…..your fine….you shut the computer down before any malicious scripts or files were downloaded…………

Answer by zep516
Internet Security 2010 is a rogue anti-spyware program that is installed through the use of malware. Once installed, Internet Security will be configured to start automatically when you login to Windows. It will then scan your computer and display numerous infections, but will not remove anything until you purchase the program. These infections, though, are all fake and are only being shown to trick you into thinking you are infected so that you then purchase the program. It goes without saying that you should definitely not purchase this program.

And there are no diseases in the world so why have doctors and hospitals and vaccinations.

~

And there are no thieves either so why have banks to lock up your money, just have it all in your pockets and no need for policemen because nobody robs or steals.

And locks, no need for them. Just leave your house, car whatever unlocked. Nothing will happen to your laptop, or money or jewelry.

All that stuff on the Internet about Virus, and spyware and Malware is a bunch of hooey. No need to protect against any of it. Until it hits YOU.

Answer by murderspoon
There are viruses out there and antivirus software is pretty much a necessity, but id guess that most, less computer literate people dont really understand that so many programs they install automatically start background processes on startup that will reduce performance considerably when built up (like itunes sets something like ituneshelper.exe to run on startup). And then theres the people that use really old, outdated computers but expect them to manage with programs/workloads made for the newer, more powerful pcs. Since they dont know about these the only cause they can think of is a virus.

Answer by Ray M
You are right of course, not everything is a virus however to say that viruses don’t exist. I think you being a bit naive. It is alright until you have one and when you switch on your screen and nothing appears because your hard drive got “shredded” you buy all the anti virus software in the world.
