The easiest way to remove Personal Antivirus is to download, install and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It’s 100% free and will automatically detect and remove the Personal Antivirus software from your computer.

First thing you need to do is kill the process:

1)hit ctrl+alt+del and select the process tab

2)look for any processes called personalAV, PersonalAntivirus or PAV

3)kill those processes by clicking on them and clicking “End Process”

4)Warning may come up saying that this can make your computer unstable, you can ok this

Next delete the files

1)Browse to your “program files” directory. You are looking for a sub directory called personalAV, PersonalAntivirus or PAV.

2)Delete this subdirectory by clicking on it and pressing the delete key on the keyboard

3)If it asks for confirmation, then confirm it.

Next clean the registry (here be dragons, getting this wrong will royally f##k your computer so be careful)

1)start|run and enter “regedit” and select “ok”

2)press ctrl+F and enter “personalav”

3)delete any entry relating to “personav” press F3 to search for the next one

4) do the same searching for “personal antivirus”

Now, install spybot S&D available from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/… and run a scan. Make sure your virus definitions are up to date. If you don’t have antivirus, then get some. I use the free AVG from http://free.avg.com. Some people will say that AVG is no good, but it works for me.

My kids got this “Personal Antivirus” crap on my computer and it is completely messing it up. I have Mcafee antivirus but it won’t do a thing. How do I get rid of this thing.

1 Go to the start button, right lower corner

2 control pannel

3 go to remove/uninstall programs

4 find the program

4 uninstall it.

Go to freewaredownloads.com And download for free their latest security software. GOOD LUCK.

You have a Scare Ware Fake Anti-Virus. Follow these instructions:

Restart your computer and repeatedly tap F8 as it is booting up.

With arrow keys select Safe Mode With Networking.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Cnet.com

Update it and run a Quick Scan.

Delete Any Viruses.

Restart your computer.

Be careful what sites you go on in the future do not click any links from Facebook or MSN etc.

Yeah, that annoying Virus keeps popping up on my computer too. I’m so glad I didn’t click on the O.K button thingy the other day-it almost had me fooled but then I realised that the side bar thingy was windows XP and my laptops a Windows 7 version, epic fail to whoever started this virus
