And to stop getting Them Stop downloading alot of files

Answer by Kornfan71
http://avast.com

Get Avast! Home Edition, a free anti-virus program.

Answer by lostdog
Get a real-time anti virus program, only download from sites that you trust. And scan any files before opening or running them.

Answer by Travis
Install a real time virus scanner. A real time virus scanner constantly scans your PC including new files as you download them, making sure they have no viruses before you use them. I use McAfee, a paid program. However you can just as easily download free virus scanners. I wouldn’t say they are as reliable as one you can buy at an electronics store, but they are much better than nothing.

Try AVG http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

Avast http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

or Avira http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html

Also install Web of Trust for your browser. It will warn you when you visit a nasty virus-infected site.

Changing your IP address won’t help.

Answer by Ray
Forget changing the IP adress. Get better anti-virus software. Just type in “Microsoft Anti virus programs” There should be some you can pick from, I personally like Microsoft Security Essencials its free, but it requires you to update it manually every day. and scan everything thats not lisenced before you download it.

Answer by TempoOne
You need to use good anti-virus software with real time protection (but I’m sure you already knew that) and….

You also must keep your Windows and all your installed software 100% patched and updated. An unpatched computer allows trojans, virus and malware to install itself without you doing a thing. Adobe products (Flash-Player, Acrobat, Reader) are notorious for needing constant updating to plug security vulnerabilities. Sun Java too.

I suggest that Secunia PSI to insure that all one’s software is kept always updated and patched:

You IP address has nothing to do with the issue.

Its free.

Answer by soupfine
Avoid websites, links and downloads that are risky for malware. It’s not that hard to do. Use common sense and learn how to recognize bs.

WOT is pretty good a keeping you out of risky sites.

Answer by Phantom
You can’t change your IP address unless you get a new computer.

However, anti-virus software would be very, very helpful. But, don’t use Norton 360 Anti-Virus, my desktop got a virus every month or so with that anti-virus “protection”.

Answer by Dhanush
USE KASPERSKY PURE

IT ROCKZZZZ!!!

Answer by Drake
Your situation sounds like someone with you on their mailing list got hacked, the most effective remedy would be to have all your friends remove you and then clear your mailing list, writing down their e-mails into a book, then run a virus scan and set up a firewall, effectively stopping viruses from entering (with the firewall), while decontaminating your computer (by scanning for and eliminating, viruses, trojans, etc.) and avoiding the bulk of the trojans (by stopping automatic senders from mailing you). I have also written a few other long-term solutons below:

A) Get antivirus software:

antivirus software also blocks trojans, many also include firewalls (which block oncoming viruses and trojans before they arrive) and anti-spyware (which detects and destroys programs that may be monitoring your computer use).

Commercially available programs are usually very efficient, while there are also effective free programs available online. AVG, for instance, is a good one, though make sure to do your research before downloading.

B) Run regular scans:

Run a complete scan your computer once a week. If you have antivirus software, simply open the program and press scan, although most programs do this automatically.

C) Be computer-wise:

Read through every e-mail completely, if something looks off, it probably is.

Don’t open attached files without confirmation. Call or text the friend (if possible) and find out if they sent it.

Don’t open unwanted mail. If it’s from somewhere you didn’t sign up for or from someone you don’t know, just delete it.

A Trojan horse, or trojan for short, is a term used to describe malware that appears, to the user, to perform a desirable function but, in fact, facilitates unauthorized access to the user’s computer system. The term comes from the Trojan Horse story in Greek mythology. Trojan horses are not self-replicating which distinguishes them from viruses and worms. Additionally, they require interaction with a hacker to fulfil their purpose. The hacker need not be the individual responsible for distributing the Trojan horse. It is possible for hackers to scan computers on a network using a port scanner in the hope of finding one with a Trojan horse installe.

"Windows Explorer has stopped working" every time my computer sijakhalneun someone could help?

antivirususerreviews.blogspot.com ® "Windows Explorer has stopped working" every time my computer sijakhalneun someone could help?

Real question written by Koondogg: Everytime i start up my computer it says “Windows Explorer has stopped working” can someone help?

I turned off my computer one day and when i turned it back on the next it said “windows explorer has stopped working” i went online to check it out and i have not seen any working answers. i heard Regcure could fix it so i bought it and it didnt do anything. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me. any help would be greatly appreciated!

This may be focused on Everytime i start up my computer it says “Windows Explorer has stopped working” can someone help? that you may might want to solve complications independantly. With a little luck this will aid in lots of ways: and help the way you live greater. Regcure is a virus. But if you are getting this error try running a virus scan anyway because sounds like you’ve caught something.

Answer by amxla
It can be a prank program or some worm. If windows explorer really stopped working, you wont see any icons on your desktop, nor the Start Menu.

Answer by Not Of This World – N.O.T.W -
if you’re using Vista most likely you will have this problem over n over

Answer by Paradox
What you’ll need to do is install an anti-virus and anti-malware.

Get the following:

Malwarebytes

avast!

Install those two, update them, and set them to full run. Avast has a slew of awesome scanners at its disposal (Most of them are active-shields), and the best part is they’re both free.

If your computer can start up all the way, install and run them both… it should take care of the problem entirely.

Most of the time things claiming to help that pop up seemingly at the best possible (When things mess up) are 100% of the time trojans // worms // spammers. When you download them and install them they will claim to find an astronomical amount of viruses and tell you to buy the product claiming that it works. If you do, you should probably change your credit-card number because it’s more likely a phisher (A phisher is someone who steals credit card information then goes on a spending spree, or he’ll sell the credit card information to someone who then spends like crazy). So install the anti-virus, and run it… and if you seriously install and paid for one of the fake “You have 50 virus” ad’s, I would honestly change your credit card number.

Hopefully this answers your question!

Cheers.

○ any sites offering these rogues, and ½ the sites offering to remove them: Antivirus 2008, Antivirus 2009, Spyware Protect 2009,

○ turn off your Pop-up blocker & browse the Internet, if a pop-up appears saying that you are infected, click on it, because it will always be a rogue program

○ http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm has lists of rogue programs

○ When you find a bad site, enter it in http://www.siteadvisor.com/ & it will show the names of other bad sites that are linked to it

○ Almost all the sites that have “Top 10 Anti-virus” or something similar in their name are distributors of rogue junk

Do I keep my HP laptop shut itself down?

antivirususerreviews.blogspot.com ® Do I keep my HP laptop shut itself down?

Predicament written by Shizu-chan: Why does my HP laptop keep shutting itself down?

My laptop, for the past few weeks, has been randomly shutting itself down for no apparent reason. I know it’s not overheating, and it happens when I don’t use it for a certain length of time. I’ve checked my battery every time I’ve left, and I always have plenty. In addition, I don’t have any programs running that would drain my battery. I’ve gotten the blue screen of death a few times, and sometimes a little gray box will show up when I try to turn it on saying that my computer didn’t turn on properly or something, and that it’s “attempting repairs.” It’s really starting to piss me off, and I can’t do anything about it because I have no idea what’s going on.

Also, I’ve run all the scans I can think of. My anti-virus, my Viper Internet Security thing, etc. and whatever “virus” that they’ve found, it gets rid of them and they’re no longer there. I’ve had my laptop for a little under a year, and it’s never done this before. Does anyone know what I can do? Would running a defrag help anything? Do I need to download some sort of special program to make this stop? Or would it just be easier to get a new laptop instead of dealing with this crap? Thanks for any help you can give!

It depends on which virus you are talking about. Firstly, no antibiotics work on virus because the antibiotics are used to destroy the cyst of a bacteria because virus virus makes no cyst of the same substance for killer t-cells to attack. Next, is virus such as the retro virus like HIV the medecines mostly kill the normal cells also. And every time the WBC make an anti bod for such a virus the virus changes its protein structure and mutates and goes slealth again. in the mean time the virus attacks the WBC production site in the bone marrow and reduces the WBC drastically and the person dies due to lack of protection for the infectious microbes in the air.

Answer by Asst Prof
Because viruses do not respond to generally accepted antibiotic treatments.

If this happens just from opening up IE — without you doing anything — then the problem must be with the “initial” page, that IE is set to open upon start-up.

In my opinion, this should ALWAYS be blank page (URL “about:blank”), but, in your case, that seems different.

Unless you, or your ISP (or school?) set the initial URL for you (and the page has a bug), it is supposed be set to something under msn.com, where Microsoft is highly unlikely to have a bug.

More probably, you’ve downloaded some crap, which changed the initial page to point to some shoddy advertising site. The goal is for the scum -g to get paid every time the advertising page loads.

Chances are, you have other infections and should either seek professional help for your PC (Stapes, Best Buy, Office Depot all offer “anti-virus” services, but I’ve never used them), or, if you have a clue, clean up your computer yourself.

Download Ad-Aware (see link in Sources below) — the free version is fine, you can refuse to upgrade to the paid version — and let it perform a full scan once (can take hours). You’ll be amazed, how much crap you have… You, probably, will want to let Ad-Aware take “default action” with every item it finds…

Re-run it (in the faster “smart” scan mode) at least once a week after that… And be careful downloading dancing kitties next time…

AVG all the way dude

Microsoft Security Essentials.

Answer by Glenn
Fact:

Free and Payed protection are nearly the same, free versions off a anti virus which can be bougth uses the same database and therefore catches the same viruses though additional features might be added to the payed version.

A slight intro, Why not to pick AVG? or as they say AGV?

AVG is a high memory consuming low efficent anti virus, it scores badly in most tests and when put to the test by actual users it fails just as hard. Often when you buy or download AVG, you are participating in what I like to call “GIVE ME VIRUS” movement, as when AVG catches a minor virus it will struggle to delete it or slow perhaps freeze your Computer. When sligthly more advanced viruses infects your system, AVG Is also highly likely to freeze or disable itself.

ANSWER TO RYAN:

Way to go dude, nice recommendation, well AVG is crap, Mac is less safe then windows according to hackers themself.

I will list a number off softwares below which will make you feel very safe

-Avast (Avast.com) On paper this is less efficent then Avira but Avast wins my thrust with an comprehensive Web Shield

-SuperAntiSpyware(.com)

-Malwarebytes(.com) This and SuperAntiSpyware are nearly the same, they will cover the areas where the others can’t.

-Comodo Firewall (Comodo.com) This is just one off the best firewalls out there, it is free and really makes you feel secure when you feel that it’s there all the time, not like windows firewall -.-

-Sandboxie(.com) this is free and useful, Sandboxing are becoming more and more populare, some anti virus programs are implementing it into their own software, sandboxing is just locking all downloads and programs into an virtual envirnment. It will prevent any harm to your PC even if you download a file with a virus inside it.

Mate, Avast is pretty much the best free anti virus, if you don’t feel that it’s there it generally means you don’t have anything to be concerned about. Get the products i’ve listed and you will remain secure, Also get CCleaner from Piriform.com which will remove trash Windows has created for no reason ^^

NB: DISABLE WINDOWS FIREWALL BEFORE GETTING COMODO’s

Answer by ohw0rd?
Avast is the best free anti-virus software out there to date, it is rated higher than AVG by many security sites. Google it. You could try Avira next if you would like. Might I also suggest CCleaner to you? Very nice Registry fix and Junk remover and plays well with Malwarebytes and Avast.
