I was infected with the fake program Personal Antivirus a few days ago. By the time i was able to remove it my computer was running much slower and i was unable to search with any search engines?

I’m not sure how you removed it, but if it was loaded with viruses, they may still be on your system.

If you have anti-virus software, run it through a deep scan of your entire system. If you don’t, there are free virus scanners online. Here are two:

You should also scan for malware. Malwarebytes is a good program. Also, scan for spyware with Spybot – Search & Destroy.

All of this may get rid of everything, but just keep in mind that you have been infected, so your computer and it’s safety is compromised. A complete format and re-install is probably good in the long run. You could always burn backups of your data and rescan them before you load them back to the fresh system.

○ turn off your Pop-up blocker & browse the Internet, if a pop-up appears saying that you are infected, click on it, because it will always be a rogue program

○ When you find a bad site, enter it in http://www.siteadvisor.com/ & it will show the names of other bad sites that are linked to it
