close and exit the program and all its sub-programs first. then go to control panel>add or remove programs and remove it

Answer by wiztek

Download A free program called Revo Uninstaller from http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html Install and run the program. You should see stopzilla in the list. Uninstall it and remove all of the Registry entries.

Download and install a free copy of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Install it , update it, run it and remove anything it finds.

If you still have a problem just E-Mail me

Answer by Perpetual

I would first try its uninstaller if it has one. First check in your “add/remove program” under control panel to see if the program is listed. If it is not listed there, then open up the folder the program resides in (example c;\programfiles\stopzilla) and look for a program called “uninstall” or unwise”….run it.

If those 2 do not work then boot into safe mode. You can get into safe mode by spamming f8 while your OS is booting up, if you see a windows logo then you missed it.

Once into safe mode you should be able to delete the program manually. If not, I have a few more ways to do it.

#1

Open up the start menu and select “run”. type in “msconfig” without the “‘s and hit enter. A configuration utility will open up, Click the “startup” tab. Uncheck any entries that are for the program you are trying to delete. You can also uncheck other programs you do not need/want to load when windows starts, which will speed up windows booting time. After you are done, reboot. When windows restarts you should be able to delete that program.

#2

Download a program called “HijackThis”. Open it up and under MISC Tools there is an option to delete a file on reboot. Self explanatory.

The reason for not being able to delete it is because the program is loaded into memory. You might even get lucky just opening taskmanager and ending its process then deleting, but a lot of times there are multiple parts to a program loaded and this will not work. Deleting it before windows loads it is the safest/easiest way then.

If you manually delete it, run a registry cleaning program afterwards. When a program is installed, it makes registry entries and just deleting the programs files will not remove these registry entries. But if you use the uninstall for the program, the registry files are usually deleted.

Good luck, there are at least 20 different ways to do the task you are trying to do, I gave you a few of the easier ways.

Answer by reubinism

It depends on which virus you are talking about. Firstly, no antibiotics work on virus because the antibiotics are used to destroy the cyst of a bacteria because virus virus makes no cyst of the same substance for killer t-cells to attack. Next, is virus such as the retro virus like HIV the medecines mostly kill the normal cells also. And every time the WBC make an anti bod for such a virus the virus changes its protein structure and mutates and goes slealth again. in the mean time the virus attacks the WBC production site in the bone marrow and reduces the WBC drastically and the person dies due to lack of protection for the infectious microbes in the air.

Answer by Asst Prof

Because viruses do not respond to generally accepted antibiotic treatments.

No. And now you need to scan your machine with a real anti-malware. I would suggest http://malwarebytes.org for their free scanner to start with. It my be giving out all your personal information across the internet.

Answer by Kitti D

*sigh* Unfortunately short of getting a lawyer you will have to call this a loss. You could try to at least see if you can report this fake company to the proper authorities to get them shut down and arrested though.

Answer by dyalibya

No , actualy if youv used a crideit card report it stolen

Answer by jacob tuscan

Depends on the method you paid. If you paid via paypal, dispute it, same with the other check outs. If you paid via credit card dispute it or contact the company.

I downloaded that as well not paying attention and thought that I was getting AVG Personal. Regardless get AVG and do a system scan now as that program will put some dirty tracking software on your PC.

See the links I copied below for reference of this rogue software. The 3rd link provides information how they trick people into buying it.

Cheers,

Answer by Shaun

Do not ever pay for fake anti-virus software, there is no way that you can get your money back if you paid for it.

Fake anti-virus software will produce false positives, and it adds more threats to your pc, and it gives fake alerts, making you think that you have a virus.

Remember, whenever you see an alert telling you that your pc is infected in the tray icon without your consent, you must not install it.

Install an antivirus software that is provided to be proven, such as.

Well first of all, if you payed by credit card, call your provider, and cancel it ASAP. They will use/sell the info and then spend loads in your name. Your identity has basically been stolen. You cannot get your money back, and you need to get rid of the malware fast. Download Malwarebytes, superantispyware, and then get a nice real time portection like Antivir if you want free one, or kaspersky if you wanna pay.

just go to your control panel to remove programs.

after which you should run a reg cleaner.

you will need to restart to rid it though.

btw AVG from cnet.com/downloads works best for free

Answer by Jack

Get a trusted free antimalware program. I would reccomend MalwareBytes or AdAware, either of which you can scan with and should be able to remove this infection.

For future reference, use Firefox internet browser for better security, and scan with malwarebytes or adaware every month to make sure your computer is clean.

* Download HijackThis http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/downloads/HJTSetup.exe

*Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

*Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.

*By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.

*Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.

*Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.

*Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.

*At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.

*Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.

*Click on “Edit > Select All” then click on “Edit > Copy” to copy the entire contents of the log.

*DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

How to remove “Personal Antivirus” from my computer, what should I do?

Why Do I need to remove the “virus” malware software vendors?

Quandary made by Meh, Internets: Why do software companies separate “viruses” and malware?

Example: AVG only picks up “viruses”. You have to scan with Malwarebytes or some other program to pick up any other malicious software.

Why do they separate these? Both are unwanted, malicious software doing things you don’t want them to. Isn’t that the definition of virus?

Answer by Z, Ninja King

Not sure why. Honesty, I’ve never seen a software company/program make a distinction between malware & a virus. Both are one & the same. Viruses, worms, Trojans, decompression bombs, rootkits, spyware, adware, keyloggers, all are different forms of malware.

Answer by TempoOne

Sorry, but you are mistaken.

Any software labeled “anti-virus” that has been made in the last 6 or 7 years will actually detect all kinds of malware with varying degrees of effectiveness. There are actually very, very few actual computer viruses these days. Most are trojans and worms and rogues.

With over 1 million different viruses and malware loose on the internet, these “general-purpose” anti-virus programs like AVG etc have a daunting task. They simply cannot respond as quickly and effectively as Malwarebytes can when dealing with brand new malwares.

Malwarebytes specifically deals with only a few thousand hard-to-remove, newer malware…mostly rogues.

From the Malwarebytes people themselves on their official forum:

“Our software is not anti-virus software, and is not meant to replace anti-virus software. It is meant to complement anti-virus software and cover the areas where anti-virus software is weak.”

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=30257

The name *anti-virus* is a misnomer, its a leftover from the 90s when ALL computer malware were viruses.

And the name *anti-malware*, as in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, is as equally mis-leading, since the word malware means ALL malicious software, people are led to believe that Malwarebytes can detect ALL (or most) malicious software. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Confusin’, huh?

First, you need anti-virus software – download, install and update AVG anti-virus (it’s free for personal use) – you can find it here – http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Then remove your System Restore points (viruses love to hide in the System Restore files), but be aware that if you do remove your existing Restore Points you will not be able to “roll back” your computer to a previous configuration. To find out how to disable System Restore see this page – http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestor…

Just to be sure you don’t have other malware on your computer I recommend that you download SpyBot Search & Destroy and Adware – both are free spyware/adware detection and removal software.

Next, start the computer in Safe Mode – (as the comptuer is starting up, keep tapping the F8 key on your keyboard until you see a special start-up menu) – more on how to start in Safe Mode here – http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum…

Using AVG – run a full system virus scan while in Safe Mode

After the viruses have been detected and removed, run SpyBot and AdAware (full system scans) then restart the comptuer, enable System Restore again and enjoy a virus-free computing experience.

If the problems are still there, try using MSCONFIG to help figure out how to manually disable the Trojan from starting up – see more about MSCONFIG here – http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/…

To help protect against malware you should install a firewall, Zone Alarm works perfectly well and is free – http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/c…

Also, don’t forget to keep Windows up-to-date – using Microsoft Windows Update!

After following these instructions go to: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/must-read… they will help you for free, no credit card or personal information needed, and they will analyze Hijack This logs for you, to make sure that your computer is safe. HijackThis helps If persistent spyware is bogging down your computer, you might need HijackThis. The tiny program examines vulnerable or suspect parts of your system, such as browser helper objects and certain types of Registry keys. Pressing the Scan button generates a log of dozens of items, most of which are just customizations. Don’t check off an item and hit the Fix checked button unless you’re sure it’s malware. Clicking Info on selected item tells you why the entry was flagged as suspicious, but not whether it’s actually malware. To find that out, search the Web for that item’s name or go straight to a forum, such as SpywareInfo or Computer Cops. Saving the log creates a text document you can post to these forums.

The latest version adds powerful tools to the Config window. The process manager and hosts file editor help you excise virulent infections. The unique ADS Spy tool scans for alternate data streams, which some browser hijackers use to hide from spyware removers. The program still installs into whatever directory in which you unzip the file, which can make it hard to locate. HijackThis is a serious tool for any user who needs to root out a serious infestation, but wield it with caution. So, go to the site I gave you above, and they’ll help you step by step.

Free registry cleaners:

CCleaner does not specialise in cleaning the registry, it’s mostly used to speed up your computer by cleaning up your recycle bin, temp files/internet files, browsing history, application errors, log files and so on.. which frees up some space in your harddisk

I’ve tried these 10 free cleaners

http://www.regsofts.com/freeware/freereg…

I would recommend the following(click on the webpage and follow):

Free Windows Registry Repair(first one) – rather effective, the first scan i did after about a year showed over 500 problems with the registry, fixed them all

RegSeeker(2nd one) – fixed another 300 problems after using the previous one.

and like the two of them said, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Abexo Free Registry Cleaner(30 day trial)

Just run them all that’ll fix most problems! But dont expect 100% fixes because programs might recreate registry entries when used and so a second scan might still show the same few errors. (ignore such errors)

those are all freeware, hope i’m of some help

Good Luck!

Follow the above post that sends you to bleeping computer

Do what that post says. it will clean system tool off your computer

Next, you need an antivirus

I like AVAST, it has a root kit detection and boot scan that none of the other free ones have.

http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

You also should run an antispyware app

i like windows defender. like your antivirus, it runs all the time, auto updates and you probably already have it on your computer

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx

The third thing to do is to check that your software is up to date. Secunia does this for free. You can download an app or use their online scan. Then upgrade whatever it tells you needs it.

Hope this helps

This will let you identify the file and location (it should be C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\(Random)\(Random).exe, e.g. 125861245.exe). I then input :\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ into my Windows Explorer address bar while in safemode, tracked down the file and deleted it. Go back to normal mode, install anti-malware software and scan your computer to remove the remains. Full details on how to remove system tool virus on the link below. Good luck!

A well written virus will infect system restore, so turn it OFF before following my directions so the virus can’t resurrect itself.

Many forms of malware are able to remove the executable part of antivirus and anti malware programs WHILE you are downloading them, so my suggestion is this.

What you should do is use a second computer to download a copy of malwarebytes and then update it. Next, copy the updated malwarebytes to a CD or DVD(if your pc can read DVDs) and insert the CD or DVD into the drive.TURN OFF your infected pc, not restart, TURN OFF.Wait 2 minutes then hit the power button while continuously tapping the F8 key. You want to enter safe mode (WITHOUT networking) and run the malwarebytes from there.

If you have problems doing this, register at forums.techguy.org/

They will walk you through it.

I would also suggest that you install some kind of antivirus, there are many free ones. I have used !avast quite successfully for well over a year, and it’s FREE!

Fully grasp good?
