Answer by Bob

You could try manual deletion, but if you delete the wrong file or miss a file then it does you no good. I would just download an automatic removal tool from http://www.spyware-review.net and get a scan going to see what you’ve got. It could be more than PAV.

Once in Safe Mode, you need to stick to instructions for Alpha Antivirus removal here

http://fix-computer-problem.com/rogue-antispyware/alpha_antivirus/alpha_antivirus.html

Answer by ?

Easiest and most effective way to remove it as simple as 1, 2, 3 !!

Follow this path

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Uninstall\AlphaAV

Copy this in address bar of your browser and press Enter. You will see “Uninstall” icon in the folder and simply double click that icon, and you will receive a message “Uninstall Complete”. All processes of this fake antivirus will be stopped.

Or if you want to open that AlphaAV folder manually, simply open your “C” drive, then “Program Files” folder, then “Common Files”, then “Uninstall, and then AlphaAV, and double click on Uninstall icon.

If you just manually delete the folder from Program Files, its not enough because there will still be few files left in Registry. so follow those step I mentioned above which is the solution to properly uninstall that.

You should try using MSCONFIG in Windows XP to disable some of the unnecessary programs that automatically load on start-up. Disabling these programs will help your computer boot faster and crash less.

1. In Windows XP, go to Start > Run

2. Type MSCONFIG in the “Open:” box and then either press enter on your keyboard or click on the OK button.

3. This launches Microsoft’s System Configuration Utility. Click on the Startup tab (the tab at the far right).

4. This takes you to a page with a list of “startup items.” Startup items are programs that are automatically loaded every time you turn on your computer. Some startup programs are absolutely necessary, others are simply a waste of RAM.

Remember, disable only those programs that you recognize and don’t need to have running all the time. When in doubt, leave it on.

5. Click on the OK button.

6. A message will pop up telling you that you must restart your computer before these changes will take effect. Click on “Yes” and your computer will automatically reboot.

7. That’s it! Your computer should now boot faster and crash less.

And you should also update our Antivirus software and run a virus scan,

Answer by arsonak45

Actually, I suffered a similar problem just a few weeks ago. Ever since I solved it, I’ve been doing weekly check-ups on my computer for viruses.

Lavasoft has a anti-spyware/malware program called “Ad-Aware.” The new anniversary edition download is here: http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_fr…

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware also works extremely nicely. Download that if you can.

Also, most Windows computers come with a free service called McAfee. There is a built in virus scan with the program. Use that to check for and get rid of viruses.

Last but not least, if you have a Windows Vista, use Windows Defender to scan and cure your computer for any harmful software.

Hope this helps!

Answer by C G

Sometimes the viruses are smart enough to outsmart your antivirus. The first thing that I would do is use Malwarebytes. It isn’t really an “antivirus,” more like “antimalware” which means that it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of an antivirus (like Norton) but it’s good at detecting viruses. You can get it here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php (click on the free version)

If Malwarebytes doesn’t help, then tell me some characteristics of the virus. And one last thing- If the virus tries to get you to buy anything, don’t! Many viruses act like they’re “anitivirus” software and that if you pay for a full version you can get rid of “viruses” on your computer.

Answer by Albert W

Hi there,

You also can do a virus scan with these two free apps:

They only run manually and will not interfere with your existing antivirus.

These two apps will remove the virus (if they find one) without paying for removal.

Seems like lots of folks are getting infected with this Green AV. You should do what I did, get yourself a top flight antivirus program that specializes in rogue viruses. It is well worth it not to skimp out on great virus protection because the really nasty ones can completely destroy your computer and steal your identity. The one I use can be downloaded at:

it is probably a virus. even after deleting it the program or virus is still in your registry so it puts itself back on your computer. Run an antivirus program(maybe a couple times, scan and remove, restart and scan and remove again)

try malwarebytes anti virus

Answer by Razor Rob

Had this happen to too many friends. Pretty all Antivirus programs that just Pop up and start running a scan and asks you to buy full versions, are hoaxes and usually are spyware and viruses themselves. You can try searching for a removal tool of the program online, I dont know the name of the one thats popping up on yours.

Running a trusted Spyware Scan such as WebRoot Spy Sweeper or “free” Spybot Search and Destroy has eliminated these pesky pop ups too.

Last resort, and sometimes it happens. Start backing up your pics, documents, videos, music and whatever is important to you, cause it may boil down to having to do a format and reinstalling Windows again and all your programs.

This program is what is called a rogue (or fake) application.

The program itself is the infection. It’s design to annoy and scare you into going to whatever website it wants you to and give up your personal information by purchasing This program is what is called a rogue (or fake) application.

The program itself is the infection. It’s design to annoy and scare you into going to whatever website it wants you to and give up your personal information by purchasing this program.

Most anti-virus (AV) programs don’t catch this type of infection due to the fact that it’s not the only infection on your system. There is usually another infection working in the background trying to keep that infection hiding.

Malwarebytes is a free program that targets these type of infections. And you can download this program from malwarebytes.org or go the following URL:

http://drsgeorgia.com/malwarebytes.

Usually, it can catch all of the infections that may be at work.

Remember, the biggest problem that you are having, is not that infection that’s allowing you to see it, it’s the ones in the background that you can’t see.

Answer by Blondie

When done, restart in normal, turn restore program back on.
